Sail Making Technology Applied to Yurt Covering
A David Cain photograph at Yurtville.
The yurt making workshop used sailmaking technology to join ployvinyl sections cut from tarps to cover the yurt. Double sided carpet tape, 3M product, was used to join sections. The joints were hammered down with a rubber mallet to tighten the joint. Quick and easy solution derived from sail makers making sails from tarps. See Making A Polytarp Sail, by David "Shorty" Routh at Duckworks for details. Messing-about.com also has some helpful ideas on polytarp sails and other sail/yurt cover solutions.
